MEC Mavimbela Announces 2021 KZN Sport Awards Nominees
KZN MEC for Arts, Culture, Sport and Recreation, Hlengiwe Mavimbela has announced the list of nominees for the prestigious KwaZulu-Natal Sport Awards set for Durban next month.
This follows an extensive shortlisting process which started with the nomination by sport federation and recreation bodies, which was followed by an adjudication process by an independent panel of judges.
The KZN Sport Awards - organised by the KZN Department of Sport and Recreation in collaboration with the KwaZulu-Natal Sport Confederation - will be held at the Greyville Racecourse at 18h00 on Friday, 05 November. The number of people attending the awards ceremony will be limited this year in compliance with Covid-19 regulations.
The Awards recognise and acknowledge the successes and commitment of athletes, teams, coaches, administrators, volunteers, technical officials, media personnel as well as sport and recreation bodies. The qualification period for the 2021 Awards spans over a two-year period to accommodate performances that were not recognized last year due to the cancellation of the event in 2020 due to Covid-19. The qualification period is from 01 August 2019 to 31 July 2021.
MEC Mavimbela said the list of nominees represent the best that KwaZulu-Natal has to offer on and off the field of play.
