KZN Health Wins Government Workers Games

The KZN Department of Health are this year’s winners of the Work and Play/Inter-Departmental Games after beating other government departments, including last year’s champions, Social Development in the 2017 games held at Umhlathuze Sports Complex from 19-21 May.

Again the organisers, the Department of Sport and Recreation who had won the games before did not have a good showing as they did not make it to the top three.

After the final verification of results, the Department of Health was top with 19 points.

In the second spot with 17 points was the Co-Operative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta). Social Development and Education shared the third spot at 13 points each.

In these games government employees compete in a variety of popular sporting codes, including football for males and females, netball, athletics field event, fun run/walk, volleyball and indigenous games including stick fighting, umlabalaba and tug of war.

A healthy, winning, and socially cohesive province through sport and recreation.
