KZN public servants ready for KZN Inter-Departmental Games

Public servants from the Province of KwaZulu-Natal are ready to compete in the annual Work and Play Inter-departmental Games this weekend. 

The Games are part of efforts by government to promote active lifestyle among public employees by encouraging them to participate in sport and recreation activities.  The event will be held at Umhlathuze Sport Complex in Richards Bay on Friday and Saturday, 18 and 19 of May 2018.

Teams representing various Government Departments will participate in the Games. They will compete in different sports codes such as soccer, netball, volleyball, induku, tug of war, umlabalaba, athletics as well as a 5km fun run.

This event is hosted with the aim of improving the health status of public service employees and reduce risk of health conditions caused by a lack of physical exercises and unhealthy habits such as abuse of alcohol and drugs. These conditions include obesity, depression and cardiovascular diseases.

The success of Work and Play Programme will lead to improved service delivery to the public as a healthy body impact an active mind.
