The Dladla family from Ndodwane Village at Ntambanana near Empangeni will be spending their Christmas Day in a newly built, fully furnished house after MEC for Arts, Culture, Sport and Recreation, Bongi Sithole-Moloi, officially handed them keys to their four roomed home on Tuesday, 20 December 2016.

The house was donated by the Spar Group, through the AmaZulu FC Trust as part of their support to the KZN Premier’s Cup Football Tournament that was held in Richards Bay in August this year. The Premier’s Cup, which is organized by the Department of Sport and Recreation (KZNDSR) involving KwaZulu-Natal’s five professional soccer teams, was won by Royal Eagles.

The needy family was identified as beneficiaries in consultation with local structures including municipalities. The family was living in a half-build mud house.

MEC Sithole-Moloi, who was accompanied by King Cetshwayo District Mayor, Nonhle Mkhulisi and Umhlathuze Mayor Mduduzi Mhlongo, congratulated Phineus Dladla, his wife and two children for being the beneficiaries of this phenomenal act achieved through cooperation between government and private sector. She said the family’s dignity has been restored through the provision of a roof over their heads.

“I’m very pleased to see the Dladla family’s dream become a reality and to see that our programmes are able to change people’s lives as we are experiencing today. The government always works for the achievement of the rights of its citizens especially the right to proper and safe shelter. I’m glad to see the Dladla family’s rights being met today and it’s all due to the Department of Sport and Recreation and our partners. Congratulations to the Dladla family,” commented MEC Sithole-Moloi.

Dladla, who was thrilled with this act, was filled with disbelief as him and his family were getting a properly built house for the first time in their lives.

“This is something that I never thought could happen to my family. I’m thankful to the KZN Department of Sport and Recreation, the local leadership, AmaZulu FC, Thanda Royal Zulu and all those that were involved. This will indeed change our way of life as a family,” said Dladla.     .

Meanwhile, MEC Sithole-Moloi, in her capacity as MEC Champion for the King Cetshwayo District, earlier participated in a police road safety and crime prevention drive in the Ntambanana area. She was accompanied by Mayor Mkhulisi and Mayor Mhlongo. They joined traffic and police officers in a road block operation to inspect the vehicles roadworthiness and driver suitability.
