CENTRE: PIETERMARITZBURG HEAD OFFICE
SALARY: LEVEL 14, R 988 152 per annum
REFERENCE: DSR 01/14
Ø An appropriate three-year degree/National Diploma (Honours/Masters qualification would be advantageous)
Ø 3-5 years Senior Management Experience (within the Sport and Recreation environment)
Ø Valid code 8 driver’s license
Ø Computer literacy
Ø Willingness to work under pressure and beyond normal hours/weekends

KNOWLEDGE: All legislation, policies and prescripts relevant to the Public Service particularly as these relate to sport and recreation promotion and development. Public Service Act and regulations, PFMA, National and Provincial Sport and Recreation Strategies, Computer operation/office automation, Management reporting, Batho Pele principles, Departmental business processes, Service delivery and Service level agreements, Departmental policies, Procurement/SCM procedures, National Sport and Recreation Plan, Sport and Recreation policies and Provincial objectives.
BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCE: Strategic Capability and leadership, Programme and Project Management, Financial Management, Change Management, Knowledge Management, Service Delivery Innovation, Problem Solving and Analysis, People Management and Empowerment, Client Orientation and Customer Focus, Communication, Honesty and Integrity
SKILLS: Numeracy, Literacy, Operating equipment, Language skill, Project management, Policy Development and Analysis, Financial Management, Communication, Diplomacy, Strategic Planning.
Ø Provide strategic and leadership support to the chief directorate by identifying, developing, communicating and ensuring implementation of the department`s strategic intent
Ø Provide strategic and leadership support to the chief directorate by identifying, developing and ensuring implementation of its risk, integrity and internal control management plan.
Ø Provide strategic and leadership support to the chief directorate by developing and ensuring implementation of its reporting framework
Ø Provide tactical and leadership support to the chief directorate in respect of the delivery and management of school sport promotion and development, strategic project support services, community sport and promotion and development, stakeholder and client management, sport and recreation infrastructure development and high performance sport development.
Ø Execute all functions in respect of the provision and effective utilization of resources at the level of the chief directorate.
