The Beach Games were hosted throughout the festive season, where the players spent their festive season playing the various games in different sport fields. The purpose behind the games was to promote water safety, teaching the community on how to be safe in the water.  The MEC for Arts, Culture, Sport and Recreation, Mrs Ntombikayise Sibhidla-Saphetha advised people not to swim when under the influence of alcohol.

The participants who took part in the games were well driven and showed great character and dedication. The event was also supported by a number of well-known celebrity entertainers, as well as local upcoming artists who entertained the crowd adding flavour and hype.  The Director of Organized Recreation, Mr Mike Mthembu also thanked all the participants that took part in the games, for their hard work and dedication.

He also stated that the Department promotes safety in water while swimming and that swimming should not be done where there are no life guards present.
